Our parents met on a picnic in Oran, Algeria on 10/10/1943 during WWII. They were the first American soldiers to land in North Africa which would be known as the North African Campaign. They were both members of the US Army. He was an officer in a Tank Brigade and she was an Army Nurse. They were both independently discharged from the Army during 1st Quarter 1946. They were married 11/23/1946. If not for WWII, they never would have met since at the time the war started she was from Pennsylvania and he was from Georgia.
